Caroline Lucas, Green

Green party leader (MEP & Brighton Pavillion PPC),
Caroline Lucas' endorsement and reply

Question 1: Do you agree in principle with the aforementioned policy?*
*no commitment to act upon the policy

Answer - "The Green Party absolutely agrees with the principle of fairer taxation aimed at the redistribution of wealth. It is wrong that the richest 10% of the population are 100 times better off than the poorest 10% and we want to urgently address this through policies like those detailed above".

Question 2: In a generic sense, do you believe that the rich should pay more tax and the poor should pay less tax?

Answer - "Yes. At present those on lower incomes pay disproportionately more tax than those on higher incomes, so we need to instead introduce a tax system that ensures those who can better afford to pay do so. And there is increasing evidence that the majority of the public agree with this approach too".

Question 3: If you are elected as an MP, do you pledge to campaign for income tax reform at the next parliament?*
*not necessarily as specified with the above policy

Answer - "I am very happy to pledge that if elected to represent the people of Brighton Pavilion I will fight for fairness and campaign for income tax reform".

Caroline Lucas has officially endorsed our campaign. In doing so, she has become the first UK party leader to support our project (in principle). Thank you Caroline!
