Stephen Gray, Green

Green PPC (Coventry South),
Stephen Gray's endorsement & reply

1) "Your proposal to lower the rate at which the 50% tax band is paid is, in fact, in our manifesto. Your proposal to have two different sets of tax allowance
rather than just the one is not. We do, however, have plans to reintroduce the 10% tax band, remove the upper limit on national insurance contributions and raise the lower limit to be in line with the personal allowance for income tax. We also propose to reform inheritance tax so that it is calculated based on the recipient's wealth. I
believe that these measures, taken together, will have a greater impact on inequality than the measure you propose".

2) "Yes, I do believe that the rich should pay more tax and the poor less. At the moment, the poor pay a higher proportion of their income in taxes than do the rich. This is simply unfair".

3) "Yes, I do pledge to campaign for income tax reform in the next parliament in
line with my party's policies".

Yours sincerely,

Stephen Gray
Green Party Candidate for Coventry South
