Lib Dem PPC (Clwyd West),
Michele Jones' reply

"I too would like to express my support for fairer taxes for all. I fully support a system where people with higher incomes pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than those on lower incomes, instead of the unfair system we currently have in the UK.

Liberal Democrats will radically rebalance the tax system by cutting taxes for people on low and middle incomes, which we will pay for by cutting reliefs, closing tax loopholes that benefit the wealthiest and a 1% levy on properties over £2m.

We will raise the threshold at which people start paying income tax from the current level to £10,000, cutting the average working age persons income tax bill by £700, resulting in 3.6 million no longer having to pay any income tax at all.

Raising the Personal allowance to £10,000 will cost just over £17bn. This will be paid for by cutting reliefs, closing tax loopholes that benefit the wealthiest as well as increasing green taxes.

The specific proposals are: restricting tax relief on pensions to the basic rate, taxing capital gains as income, implementing a 1% levy on the value of properties over £2m, switching from Air Passenger Duty to a per plane tax and increasing this rate for domestic non lifeline flights as well. We will also raise money from clamping down on corporation tax, income tax, national insurance and stamp duty avoidance and evasion".
